Through the years, Belgium has built up an extensive collection of cultural & historical heritage. Many of these protected monuments have also been named and protected as world heritage sites by Unesco. In order to guarantee the continued existence of Belgium’s heritage, the need for restoration has increased during the past few years.
To keep the original structure intact to the greatest possible extent and to allow a monument accessible to the general public, engineers and architects have to apply new technologies and redesign structures. The Belfry in Bergen is a prime example of that.
For this example, we looked for a viable solution to gain access from the lower floor to the tower’s upper floors. A steel structure surrounded a Glass lift shaft consisting of various stairways and landings to connect the interim floors, all using our AP range.
Staco is proud of its collaboration, ideas and production of perforated AP profiles, which serve as a walking surface. With our know-how, we do not only focus on development projects but we also try to anticipate a growing need for renovation!
